Mr. Jernigan is the Resident Principal-in-Charge of the firm's Annapolis, Maryland office. His practice areas include business and corporate law, commercial real estate acquisition and development, mergers and acquisitions, business formations, finance and capitalizations, and banking law. Mr. Jernigan is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association including its Section of Business Law. He is also a member of the Maryland Bankers Association. Mr. Jernigan is a member of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association where he served on the Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2001. Mr. Jernigan is also a member of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors from 2002-2007.
Mr. Jernigan represents numerous businesses and real estate developers, including franchise and corporate clients, and banks and bank holding companies where his representation has included federal and state bank regulatory matters, general corporate, loan structuring, collection and workout matters.
Mr. Jernigan was one of the founding organizers and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CommerceFirst Bancorp, Inc., a Maryland commercial bank holding company, he serves as Chairman of the Board of its subsidiary CommerceFirst Bank , a Federal Reserve Member Maryland commercial bank, which is based in Annapolis, Maryland. Mr. Jernigan is also Chairman of the Executive Committee of CommerceFirst Bank and is a member of the Loan Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee of the bank. He was also one of the founding organizers and members of the Board of Directors of Commerce Bank in College Park, Maryland which was formed and opened in 1989 and is now a BB&T Bank.
Mr. Jernigan lives in Annapolis with his wife, Tina Marie, who is a Registered Nurse and is also involved in various civic and charitable organizations.
