Brett graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, completing a Concentration in Estate Planning as part of his Juris Doctorate and earning a Certificate in Estate Planning to finish his Masters in Laws of Taxation.
Brett applies his advanced education each day, counseling clients in estate planning, estate and trust administration, business succession planning, fiduciary litigation, and tax controversy matters. He has experience drafting wills and a variety of trusts, from simple revocable trusts and irrevocable life insurance trusts to more complex planning through intentionally defective grantors trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, and charitable trusts. Brett also prepares stockholders’ agreements, operating agreements, and coordinates buy-sell arrangements for his business clients.
Brett has successfully litigated numerous will caveat, undue influence, trustee removal, and guardianship cases before the Orphans’ Court and Circuit Court of Maryland.
In his tax practice, Brett prepares estate tax returns and gift tax returns, and handles a variety of corporate tax, estate tax, and personal income tax controversy matters with the Internal Revenue Service and the Maryland Comptroller.
In his free time Brett enjoys playing football, golf, and billiards.
