Milton D. Jernigan Announces Retirement

After over 38 years of practicing law and roughly 32 years with McNamee Hosea, we regret to announce that Milton D. Jernigan, II has retired from McNamee Hosea.

Mick began his career early, when, as a teenager he started working for his family business. He worked his way up from the ground floor to assisting with the formation of business entities and owner-occupied real estate.

As a graduate of the Columbus School of Law of the Catholic University of America, Mick was admitted to the Maryland State Bar in 1982, as well as to the District of Columbia Bar and U.S. District Court District of Maryland Bar in 1983. With this strong background, he founded Milton Jernigan & Associates, P.C. in 1982, and merged with McNamee Hosea in 1988.

With his efficacious guidance and leadership, Mick helped develop McNamee Hosea from a small Prince George's County law firm, to one of the region’s most preeminent and respected, locally focused firms. In addition to maintaining his practice, Mick served as an Executive Committee member, advising and assisting the management team in all major decisions related to the continued success of the firm. A trusted advisor and manager, Mick helped shaped McNamee Hosea into the firm that it is today.

Describing himself as “a businessman first and a lawyer second,” Mick excelled in helping clients achieve their business and real estate goals. He greatly enriched the firm as well as the surrounding community, as he is responsible for the prosperity of countless business enterprises.  In addition to his legal experience, Mick has been a founding organizer and director of two successful Maryland, Federal Reserve Member commercial banks as well as various other business and real estate ventures in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan and Maryland markets over the past thirty-three years. Mick served as Chairman of the Board of CommerceFirst Bank in Annapolis, Maryland from 2000 to 2012, bringing a unique perspective as both an attorney and as a hands-on entrepreneur, organizer, owner and operator of businesses, banking, and real estate ventures.

Mick recently shared that he is "very proud of the firm that my partners, associates, staff and I have built over the years and I have greatly enjoyed working with my colleagues at McNamee Hosea. I have also enjoyed a rewarding career working with excellent clients, contacts and referral sources, many of whom have also become friends over the years and I very much appreciate having had that opportunity."

After a long and successful career with McNamee Hosea, Mick plans on spending more time relaxing and enjoying time with his wife, Tina, his children, and his grandchildren. We are grateful for his time spent at McNamee Hosea, his guidance, and all he has given to the firm. He will be greatly missed.
